Community Agreements
Agreements for PULSE meetings

1. Treat everyone with respect. Be kind and courteous with your words and be thoughtful about intentions.

2. Confidentiality and Privacy. What’s shared here stays here, but ideas learned can be expressed outside.

3. Absolutely no racism, homophobia, ableism, misogyny, transphobia or other stigmatizing language or behavior will be tolerated. We will not police your words when telling your own story however.

4. Do not use this network to seek/sell drugs or to fish for participants for any outside program.

5. Act with integrity - Do what you say you will do or give prompt notice if/when you cannot. Don’t leave us to worry.

6. Take Space/Make Space - Try to be concise and let others speak as well. Raise hands and don’t speak over each other. Prioritize everyone having a chance to speak.

7. Assume positive intent from others. Assume everyone is doing their best and ask for clarification if you need it.

8. Take a timeout, break, or table a topic when things get contentious or are going in circles.

9. Start and end the meeting on time. Have an agenda, note-taker, and moderator before every meeting (names by Friday 5:00 p.m., agenda by Saturday). Have a goal, intention, or next steps at the end of every meeting (for the next week/meeting) - Identifying deliverables by person, expectation, and deadline. Additional points to consider:

Momentum is critical for drug policy change.
We need to keep moving in order to make a meaningful impact. Thus if you want your voice to matter in this space, you need to show up consistently.

Check your ego at the door.
Consider others’ points of view.
PULSE belongs to no individual.
No one person speaks for us all.

People who work in law enforcement or news media
are not welcome in our spaces unless specifically invited.
